An ancient journey, in brotherhood, into yourself

We invite you to come home with us, to nature, to your inner nature.
We invite you to join an ancient rite of passage. Far away from sounds of civilization and material distractions. In brotherhood and in solitude, guided by ancient ceremonies we stand still at questions that probably linger in all of us:

  • Who am I? Free from day-to-day’s rush…when at night the call of the loom echo’s over the lake.
  • What is my purpose? ..when the sound of the silenced drum still resonates in me.
  • And what is the humbling presence of Mother Nature telling me?

In a pristine landscape of forests, lakes, and wildlife we will hike through forests, canoe over pristine lakes, build base camp and trust among each other. We will cook outdoors, and experience the workings of ancient practices as drumming, sharing, holotropic breathwork, a sweatlodge ceremony, and a 24-hour vision quest in solitude in nature. A journey in brotherhood of which we pray in humbleness it will give us a deeper sense of ourselves, our purpose in life, and so how to relate to the people around us, and to Mother Earth.

Practicalities of the program

  • We start and finish our expedition in our village Stjärnsund, (shared rooms)
  • Welcome and check-in: Wednesday 6 sept @18:00 – Check out: Sunday 10 sept @15:00
  • The night upon arriving we stay and eat in Fridhem in Stjärnsund – full board, deliciously vegetarian (N.B. in case of allergies or special diets, please inform us)
  • The days and nights following we will go into nature.
    Sleep in a tipi, and during the 24 hours ‘Vision Quest’ you’ll be fasting and sleeping under the open sky or under a tarp (and eventually a mosquito net)

Logistics – How to get there?

  • By car: Google maps – Stjärnsund – Dalarna
  • International: Fly in to Arlanda airport (Stockholm)
  • Take a rental car from Arlanda (2:15 min)
  • Take the train to Hedemora, we pick you up there

To bring yourself

  • Warm sleeping bag (0 Deg), sleeping mat, warm/dry clothes and shoes
  • 2 l Water container/bottles
    We will provide a more detailed packing list after your signing up

    Healing Father-Son Relationships Retreat: Finding Peace & Understanding

    At this retreat, you’ll be seen and supported by other sons who understand the complexities of father-son dynamics. We’ll hold space for the entire range of emotions, from anger and grief to love and appreciation. Nature will be our companion throughout this journey, providing an unjudgmental backdrop for your healing process.

    Why this could be important
    The relationship with the father is likely among the ones that hold the most emotions, energy, blockages, and potential. If things are unresolved, tensed, pushed away, iced up, and built up there, they can have a big impact on our lives. Sometimes we know about that, and often it is not known or remains invisible until it suddenly causes so much trouble that we have no other choice than to address it.
    Sadly, often unresolved issues with our father are things we are inclined to pass directly on to our offspring too. Without wanting it, we continue with the same behavior – some call it also ‘mistakes’ towards our children. Common themes in the relationship with the father can be:

    • Trying to live up to (past) expectations
    • Having masked or fake relationships
    • Being stuck in youth, in a rebellion
    • Feelings or themes of regrets, anger, frustration, injustice, experienced violence, abandonment, grief, etc.

    Partnership and course location
    We offer this course in collaboration with Manuel Sturm, our partner in Norway. www.wildernessvision.no.
    For this course, we will meet in the Norwegian Mountains, the Fjells. Other course participants have described these rolling mountains here as ‘soft-powerfulness’, so they provide a great setting and intention for this type of course.
    The property offers privacy, a cold stream with waterfalls, a fireplace, and a group shelter.

    How we will work
    We will invite you to follow a process designed to find peace with the past, appreciate what was, and what is, and set new intentions for the future, all focused on the relationship with your father. The guiding principle of the week will be to explore the relationship with the intention of being ‘radically honest’.
    You will not need to take any action with, communicate to, or have the approval for from your father for this process.
    Elements of the process are: Sharing circles with intentional listening, guided meditations, bodywork exercises, solo times in nature, writing, drawing, and sweat lodge. The course includes an intake and one follow-up Zoom call.

     

    Prerequisites
    Other than having the intention to work with the father relationship, you do not need to have any prerequisites to join. Nothing will be forced on you, all is an invitation. If you meet resistance or skepticism, we invite you to express it – we welcome it too. You take the step(s) you want to, and need to take – and they are unique to you.

      Joining up, clashing, mirroring each other.

      • Did I do the right thing? Do I need his approval?
      • Who is he? What is he dreaming of?
      • What example did he have? What example did I have?
      • What is it that I aspire to in life? What to expect from him in that?
      • Should I ‘expect’? Or give space? How? How to relate? How to be free?

      Far away from civilization, we go on a journey in nature. A process of reflecting, connecting, and healing.
      A rite of passage inspired by ancient traditions. As father and son, take a standstill, as men, together and alone.
      We take the ceremonial step into an adult relationship. Between us,  and with ourselves. As father, as son, as men.

      The program in brief:

      • The first evening: time to get to know the others in a relaxed, joyous way
      • Day 2
        Early morning yoga, meditation, check-in, and breakfast
        Canoe out into a landscape of pristine lakes with charming islets and deep forests.
        Landing, building basecamp,  outdoors cooking together.
        Explore the father-son relationship. With playful exercises, dialogue, autographic journalling, drum journeying and good food
      • Day 3: morning yoga, check in. sweatlodge ceremony, start of a 16-hour solo vision quest
      • Day 4 Coming  back, sharing, who am I? Cold water bath. Witnessing, sharing.
        Step into a new, adult relationship: coming free & new bond ceremony. Journalling and sharing of new intentions
      • Day 5 Breakfast, break up camp, closing ceremony, canoejourney back to the civilized world

      • The first night we stay and eat @Fridhem – full board, delicious vegetarian (N.B. in case of allergies or special diets, please inform us)
      • We spent 4 days and 3 nights in nature, 2 nights in a (tipi) tent
      • During the 16 hours ‘vision quest’ we fast and sleep under the open sky (or under a tarp)
